Field notes — the maths under the soil
The flow. Step 1 decides what you're growing — flower, foliage, or both — and the stem architecture including branches. Steps 2 and 3 shape each part with their own cut styles and their own Naturise seeds (↶ walks back your rolls). Step 4 holds the one rule everything obeys: minimum material.
Flower packets vs engines. A packet (Daisy, Poppy…) is a recipe: it configures an engine and its dials. The engines — Daisy curve, Wave petals, Superformula, Fan — are the renderers underneath. Because every radial engine is a radius-around-the-centre function, two engines can be blended: the outline becomes a weighted mix of both. Daisy × Super grows daisies with starry undertones; Waves × Daisy frills the tips. The mix slider is the ratio.
Lattice layouts. Free spaces spokes evenly around the circle regardless of petals. Per petal locks the spoke count to a multiple of the petal count and aligns one spoke to each petal's centreline, so every petal carries an identical, tidy window pattern.
Outline style hollows a shape to a band of your chosen thickness. The inner edge is slope-corrected like the lattice rim, so the band keeps its true width around steep petal edges.
Calyx. Real flowers meet their stems through a cup of sepals. The calyx control welds a green cup between stem and bloom — essential for tilted side-view flowers like the Side daisy sample, where the head foreshortens to an ellipse and the petals droop past horizontal, exactly as a daisy looks from across the garden. Leaf size variety scatters leaf sizes (seeded, deterministic) without disturbing their shape — because no two leaves on a real plant agree.
Foliage. Leaves take Solid, Veins, or Outline styles; Bend curls each blade sideways; arrangement chooses Alternate, Opposite pairs, or Wild scatter (seeded — reroll with Naturise). Branches in Step 1 grow side stems that carry their own leaves, and their own smaller blooms when a flower is present — that's the bushy, many-flowered look.
Breathing room. A relaxation pass: stems widen their fan until tip blooms stop colliding, then leaves gently repel each other and the blooms — each leaf may swing its angle and slide along its stem, but always stays attached, so everything still welds. Final smoothing runs a soft rounding pass over every cut line at export — a tidy-up for naturised wobbles and welded seams.
One piece, guaranteed. Cut files rasterise the whole plant and trace the boundary, welding every branch, leaf and bloom into one outline no matter how they overlap.
Stamens. Thin filaments fan from the flower's centre, each tipped with an anther dot, built inside the head's own frame so tilt and spin carry them — the crown of a hellebore or the reach of a hibiscus. Extra blooms can grow on branches, be strung along the stem (wattle, kangaroo paw), or cluster at the tip (a lily bunch). Tip scroll curls a frond's midrib into a fiddlehead spiral. The Sheets view shows exactly how everything nests before you commit to cutting.
The bouquet. Save up to eight plants you love with + Bouquet — each is snapshotted with its seeds, so it regrows identically. Bouquet view arranges them fanned in a silhouette vase, every plant's blooms in its own colour. Nested cut SVG welds each plant into its own piece and shelf-packs them (rotating where it helps) onto sheets, vase included — red lines cut, blue lines are sheet guides. Clicking a saved chip loads it back into the editor; × lets it go. The bouquet lives for this browser session, so export what you love.
